At Mountain Avenue Market, we try to stock our refrigerated and freezer section with a wide selection of local meat. We aim for ethically-raised, non-GMO, organic practices through our producers. However, sometimes we can’t always get what you want locally and look for good quality products with a few food miles as possible.
Jodar Farm: Fort Collins, CO
Jodar Farms is a family-run farm located in Northern Colorado at the base of the picturesque Rocky Mountains. We are dedicated to producing wholesome, nutrient-rich foods. Along with producing healthy animals, we believe that people should know the whole truth about what they are eating. Complete records of where our animals come from, how they are raised and where they are processed are readily available. By keeping our members informed, we believe they will be able to make better decisions about the food they feed their families. Our layer breeds vary widely from reds, barred rocks, buff orpingtons, americaunas, leghorns and many more.
Sara’s Pick of the Coop produces truly local and pasture-raised eggs in Boulder and Berthoud, Colorado with a focus on sustainability and healthy, happy hens. Our hens are pasture-raised, which means that they roam all day in the Colorado sunshine, with enough space to not only follow their natural instincts, but also enough that they can be rotated in and out of pastures to promote a healthy ecosystem on the lands they graze.

Meadowlark Hearth: Scottsbluff, NE
Meadowlark Hearth pastures their animals on certified organic (non-GMO) land, only feeds them
hay produced on site, and never allows them to eat grains. Additionally the cows never receive any antibiotics or hormones. From birth until processing, their animals are treated with dignity and respect. Calves are left with their mothers until approximately 8-9 months old, allowing them to receive as much nourishment as possible. Throughout their entire lives, they keep the animals moving through the pastures with well managed grazing practices. This aids in preserving the land. The cows also provide natural compost for the farm’s organic seed and vegetable garden.
Meadow Maids Foods: Yoder Wyoming
Meadow Maid beef is raised from birth to finish on pasture, on a single ranch in Yoder, Wyoming. First, we operate with respect for the cattle, and in harmony with nature. Cattle graze on native and irrigated pastures year-round, without feed supplements (hay and minerals are the only exceptions.) People are sometimes surprised that cattle can forage through the winter in Wyoming, until we point out that our resident deer and antelope have been doing it for millennia! The forage-only diet increases Omega 3 levels, CLA, and Vitamin E, providing a heart-healthy beef product. Pastures and animals are free from pesticides, herbicides, added growth hormones, steroids, and antibiotic applications. Beef is processed at an owner-operated USDA-inspected facility.
