Spring has sprung, co-op fam, which of course means it’s officially hot dog season. Nothing reminds me that the weather’s gotten warmer than when I’m walking through my neighborhood and can smell someone’s grill going.
To celebrate the start of grilling season, Mountain Avenue Market has got you covered with all of your hot dog-related needs.
For our community of meat-lovers, we carry beer bratwurst from Niman Ranch. Based in Westminster, CO, their sausages and hot dogs are antibiotic and hormone free, and these particular ones are cooked in Fat Tire Amber Ale from Fort Collins’s very own New Belgium Brewery.
We also carry Spicy Italian sausages and Apple Gouda sausages from Niman Ranch as well, both of which are uncured, antibiotic and hormone free (their Apple Gouda sausages are even gluten free for those trying to go without gluten for the year).
For those who live a plant-based life, we have options! From Tofurky, we have two different kinds of hot dogs: Italian and Beer Brats. From Field Roast (and on sale at the co-op for $3.99) is their Smoked Apple & Sage sausages. And last but not least, we have Smoky Jack hot dogs from Jack & Annie’s, based right out of Boulder, CO.
If you’re like me and can’t do hot dogs without smothering them in sauerkraut, check out our Garlic & Onion sauerkraut from Turtle Mountain Fermentery, a kombucha taproom and fermentery right here in Old Town.
Other options include sauerkraut from Bubbies and our Organic Green Chile Kraut from Farmhand Fermented Foods, based out of Hotchkiss, CO.
After you’ve placed your hot dog in one of our rolls from Canyon Bakehouse, a gluten-free bread company out of Johnstown, CO, don’t forget to top it off with some ketchup, mustard, or both, from Colorado Catsup, based right here in Fort Collins!
So Happy Spring, y’all. We here at Mountain Avenue Market really appreciate you, and hope you’re celebrating today’s equinox by treating yourself and others.
