Where are you located?
250 East Mountain Avenue. Located on the north side of the street between Coopersmith’s and the Bohemian Foundation.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday through Friday – 9:00am to 7:00pm
Saturday & Sunday – 10:00am to 6:00pm
Where can I park?
There is street parking available in front of the store and a parking garage across the street. Your first hour of parking at the parking garage is free and we will gladly help you out with your groceries. We also have plenty of bike-friendly parking out front and behind our store.
What is a cooperative?
A Cooperative is a very unique and different business model than most of your typical grocery stores. Cooperatives are owned by their member-owners and are a not-for-profit business.
Do I need to be a member-owner to shop at the Co-op?
Nope! Anyone can shop here. Member-owners just receive certain sales throughout the store and on special orders.
How much are memberships?
Member-owner shares are $160, but can be paid off in installments of $10.00, $20.00, or $40.00 a month. There is a yearly fee of $5.00, but once you’ve paid your $160 membership, you’re good to go! Please visit our Membership page for more information.
What benefits do I receive as a member-owner?
The main benefit of joining a Cooperative is that you own a share in a local, community-driven business. With this share you get to have an opinion in your store’s direction, and are also allowed to vote in elections for Board of Directors. The full benefits breakdown is on our Membership page.
What’s the difference between the Co-op and other natural food stores?
The Food Co-op is Fort Collins’s only member-owned and not-for-profit natural food store! We embrace a radically different model of business, favoring people and planet over corporate profit. We operate according to the Seven Cooperative Principles, and exist to serve our members and support the local food economy. As a wholly locally owned and operated business, the dollars invested in our store stay in the community and contribute to the sustainability of other like-minded businesses.
What payment can I use?
Cash, check, and credit cards (including American Express and Discover). EBT, Apple Pay, and Downtown Gift Cards are also welcome here!
Does the Cooperative take EBT/Food Stamps?
Yes! You can use your EBT/Food Stamps on all of our food items.
What does “bulk” shopping mean?
Good question! At the food co-op we offer two kinds of “bulk” shopping:
First, we have many items on our sales floor that are of a “scoop your own” nature. You can even bring in your own containers from home to fill! You are welcome to self-serve from these bins and containers, and there is no “minimum” purchase. You can buy just a teaspoon of a new spice, or just a tablespoon of a new shampoo to try it out! In this way, we serve smaller households, and help everyone to reduce food and packaging waste.
Secondly, we offer bulk/volume purchases through the co-op. These are whole case quantities of any items that we have on the shelf, or, for our member-owners, case quantities of any item available through our distributors. Buy an entire case of toilet paper or locally roasted coffee, whatever it is you need (and save money, too!) Whole cases are sold at a volume discount, saving money and packaging for larger households.
What is the benefit of special ordering?
Check out the Special Orders page to learn about the benefits of placing special orders.
How can I place a special order?
You can place a special order right here on the website.
How can I get my product in the store?
Please fill out a vendor application and mail, email, or bring it into the store. Each department head is in charge of looking over vendor applications that apply to their department and make the decision whether or not to bring a product into the store. We tend to prioritize local and organic products before considering others.
